Due Date for Continuing Education Extension
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the limited availability of in-person Continuing Education offerings, the Board will extend the due date for Continuing Education by 90 days, to June 30, 2021.
NOTE: The 90-day extension is only for Continuing Education. You must still renew your appraiser license by March 31st or you will be charged a late penalty fee.
Montana Chapter Meeting – April 5, 2021
A Montana Chapter meeting will be held via Zoom on April 5, 2021 to discuss and vote on the possible merger with the Inland Northwest, the Southern Idaho and the Columbia Basin Chapters.

Senate Bill 144
Senate Bill 144 is “AN ACT removing term limits for the board of real estate appraisers; and AMENDING SECTION 2-15-1758, MCA”. This proposed amendment to Montana law is being considered by the 2021 Montana Legislature which would remove the term limits currently defined by MCA 2-15-1758. Board of Real Estate appraisers (5), which currently reads: ”Members shall serve staggered 3-year terms. A member may not serve for more than three consecutive terms.”
The proposed bill Senate Bill (SB) 144 strikes the second sentence in subsection 5 – A member may not serve for more than three consecutive terms.
Senate Bill 65
Senate Bill 65 was signed by Governor Gianforte last week. This bill contains verbiage related to “those who comply with certain types of regulations” and “establish standards for imposing liability and to provide defenses for claims relating to COVID-19.”
